Lenore Road Upgrade to Dual Carriageway

Detailed designs for the project are complete and approved by Main Roads WA.  The project focuses on shorter journey times and tangible safety benefits by providing two lanes in each direction, a raised dividing median, U-turn facilities for property accesses to the east and upgrades at intersecting roads. The design also incorporates a 3m red asphalt shared path on the eastern side of Lenore Road, extending the City of Wanneroo Long-Term Cycle Network.

  • The scope of works includes:

    • Upgrade to a four-lane dual carriageway which will include a 2m wide on-road Cycling lane;

    • A 3m wide red asphalt Dual Use Path for the entire length on the eastern side of the road reserve, with connections to existing paths (subject to the timing of Water Corporation’s scheduled piping works);

    • Existing road connections at East Road, Bebich Drive and Nicholas Road will remain and operate as they currently do;

    • ‘U’ Turn pockets to support the need for a right turn from Nicholas Road West onto Lenore Road and for property owners located on the eastern side to have access to their properties;
      Kerbing and concrete works (pathways and crossovers);

    • Western Power lighting and service utility protection requirements; and

    • Line marking and signage.

Work is scheduled to commence during the week starting Monday 24 June 2024 with anticipated completion within forty (40) weeks from commencement.

The exact timing of works may vary depending upon the availability of the City’s contractor, Western Power, and weather conditions.  During construction, temporary traffic management will be implemented to safely manage traffic and pedestrians around the worksite.

The following Temporary Road Closures (Traffic Management Plans) will remain in place for the periods indicated:

  • Stage 1 - Full road closure of the intersection at Lenore Road and Nicholas Road, heading east –26 August 2024 to 20 September 2024

  • Stage 2 - Full road closure of the intersection at Lenore Road and Bebich Drive heading east - 1 October 2024 to 24 October 2024

  • Stage 3 - Bebich Drive left turn only on Lenore Road heading south - 6 December 2024 to 10 April 2025

  • The project will be delivered over two years, with Stage 1 of Construction works are planned to commence early in the 2023/24 financial year, and stage 2 completion expected in the 2024/25 financial year.
