The East Road Intersection, situated on the boundary between Hocking and Pearsall, functions as an essential access point for residents and local businesses in the area. Recognising that areas like Hocking and Pearsall—part of the wider East Wanneroo development precinct—are experiencing increased demand for services and infrastructure, ensuring safe and efficient traffic flow is a key priority for the City.

Following concerns raised by residents and local businesses regarding traffic safety issues at this vital junction, action was taken. This proactive approach aligns with the City's ongoing commitment to listen to community need and advocate for the priorities identified.

Commitment Delivered

We are pleased to announce that this dedicated advocacy has been successful. Thanks to collaborative efforts with State Government, who provide crucial grant funding and support for road improvement programs, this project commitment has been secured.

The project, which will address traffic management and safety concerns, is now progressing with design and construction work planned in the pipeline. This achievement reflects the effectiveness of our long-term advocacy journey, which focuses on delivering improved transport links and enhancing the quality of life for our growing community. I am proud to say, with thanks to Local Member Margaret Quirk and Shadow Minister for Road Safety Minister Martin Aldridge, this project wouldn't have been successful.

This work will also investigate and consider the concerns raised in the petition. Main Roads is preparing documentation to nominate this intersection for funding as part of the Black Spot Program."

MRWA will investigate opportunities for funding as part of State Government Black Spot Programme.
